Environmental Policy:

Toyota Turkey accepts as one of its main duties the responsibility for the future generations the economical development and improvements based on acceptable foundation on the ecological side. It is fact that productsof good quality can only be produced in safe and clean environments. Toyota Turkey applies the necessary technologies in line with the global Toyota environmental policies and sustainable development concept in its product development, design and manufacturing processes. Toyota Turkey believes that the following activities will help to achive these environmental protection missions; To produce cars with less consumption of natural resources, wider use of recyclable materials, less production of waste, and less environmental impact by emission and noise levels. To conform with all legal requirements related to environmental aspects and with all other environmental protection requirements recognised by Toyota Turkey and to continuously increase environmental performance. To make improvements, "kaizen", related to prevention of environmental pollution, and to continuously develop and to supervise the implementation and results. To train employees, contractors and suppliers in order to raise environmental protection awareness. To ensure minimisation of environmental risks, prevention of pollution, reduction and recovery of wastes. To establish open communication with customers, suppliers and public institutions in relation to environmental management system efforts and environmental protection practices.

ISO 14001 Certificate:

As an approval of its sensitive approach to the environmental management, and studies under 'Continuous improvement' principle, TMMT had been certificated with ISO 14001 Environment Management System Certificate, which will be valid until 2005.

Additionally, TMMT:

• Optimizes resource utilization
• Obeys to regulations, and voluntarily invests to the environmental projects
• Plans and implements environmental projects
• Considers continuity as a base at its environmental performances and implementations
• Supports all efforts to fulfill the expectations on this subject

Examples of Activities:

1. Resource utilization related activities:

• In order to reduce the electricity usage, as of end 2003, 5.644 m² of the production area is being lightened by the sunlight.
• In order to reduce the water usage, industrial water pipes made of galvanized steel, have been converted to HDPE pipes. As result of that, 0,043 m³/unit of water is being saved.
• The paint sludge, which is formed as a result of the paint process, is being re-cycled and re-used as industrial anti-rust paint.

2. Other activities:

• TMMT continuously encourages its partner companies, to perform improvement activities related to environmental issues.
• With the help of the trainings, members' recognition about environmental concerns is increased.
• Each year, month June is declared as the 'Environment Month'. During this month, environmental consciousness is tried to be increased via seminars and panels organized with the participation of outside experts and organizations.
• With the help of 'Toyota Green', the environmental bulletin prepared by TMMT, company members and related companies are informed about the activities realized, and their environmental awareness is being increased.
