Adapazari — Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT) announced that Tamer Ünlü has been appointed to TMMT’s President and CEO position, effective 22nd June, 2007. Mr.Ünlü replaces Kazuhiro Kobayashi, who will return to Japan.

Mr Unlu was born in Adana in 1947. After high school, he went to Manchester-UK for his higher education. He continued his education, while he was working at the same time. He returned to Turkey as “Mechanical and Production Engineer” in 1974.

During the 16 years he worked in Sabanci company Temsa/Adana, he was in charge of establishing the automotive division in company, spreading Mitsubishi Motors presence in Turkey and starting the local production through building a bus producing commercial vehicle plant.

After his employment in Temsa, with the start of Toyota Project  in 1990, he was transfered and put in charge of establishing and operating the plant in Adapazarı. Since 1990, he served  as the Director in charge of production , and later as Manufacturing Senior Vice President in Toyota Turkey. He is promoted to President & CEO position as of 22nd June,2007. Mr.Unlu is married, and he has one daughter and one son.

Adapazari — According to the announcement done by TIM (Turkish Exporters Assembly), Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT) became the biggest exporter of Turkish Automotive Sector and became the second in all sectors of Turkey in 2006. During 2006, TMMT’s export revenue realised as 2.5 Billion USD and TMMT has exported 160.469 vehicles, destined to more than 30 countries, mainly in Europe. Germany, France and Spain became the major export destinations of TMMT.

Mr.Kazuhiro Kobayashi, President & CEO of Toyota Turkey, has said: We have achieved our targets through producing around 177 thousand and exporting more than 160 thousand vehicles. We are gratified that we had a fruitful year on the way to realize our mission which is to contribute Turkish society through exportation. I would like to thank firstly to our employees and suppliers and all other parties for their contribution to our success. We, Toyota Turkey, are very happy to contribute to Turkey through production, exportation, investments and employment.”

In 2006, Toyota Turkey’s export amount realised as 2.5 Billion USD with an increase of  9%. During the same period, 176.688 vehicles produced with an increase of 11% and 160.479 vehicles exported with an increase of 11.5%.

Toyota Turkey has made an investment over 850 Million Euro since its establishment and currently has around 3500 employees. Toyota Turkey had started exportation in year 2002 and produced Corolla Sedan, Wagon and Verso models until the end of 2006. In the coming days, Toyota Turkey will start to produce Auris together with Corolla Verso.

Toyota’s growth in Europe continues

Toyota achieved 10th consecutive record year of sales in Europe with the 1.12 Million vehicles sales of Toyota and Lexus brands. 2006 European sales rose by 13% and Toyota’s market share was up 0.5 percentage points to 5.84%. Toyota aims to sale 1.22 Million vehicles in Europe in 2007.

Toyota produced 808,463 vehicles, 863,507 engines and 568,212 transmissions in its plants in U.K., France, Poland and the Czech Republic besides Turkey Plant. For 2007, all plants will again operate at full capacity, with a new plant in Russia due to open at the end of the year.

The new Toyota Auris: New C-segment model

Auris, the New Hatcback Toyota, will be built alongside Corolla Verso at Toyota Turkey and alongside Avensis at Toyota UK

The reason of producing Auris at Toyota Turkey is based on the Toyota’s commitment to its localisation strategy of “building cars close to where they are sold”.  Besides, Auris was developed with the idea of meeting the high customer demand for Hatchback models in Europe.

Mr. Kobayashi, CEO and President of Toyota Turkey, said: ”Toyota Turkey will contribute more with high quality Auris production to achieve Toyota’s target of 1.2 million sales in Europe by 2008.”

Total annual production amount of Auris at Toyota Turkey will be around 60.000 units which will comprise around 40% of whole Toyota Turkey’s annual production volume.

Auris promises an engaging driving pleasure and offers plenty of choice: three-door or five-door hatchback body types, three diesel engines, two petrol engines and three transmissions. In addition, all engines meet Euro IV emissions standards.  

Auris will be the new core model in Toyota Motor Europe’s sales growth strategy with distinctive design, offering superior quality, comfort and great sense of space.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey became the export leader of Turkey for the second consecutive year

Adapazari — According to the announcement done by TİM (Turkish Exporters Association) Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey Inc. (TMMT) has been the biggest exporter of Turkey, according to the results of year 2005. During 2005, TMMT’s total exportation has been realized as 2.3 Billion USD.

Mr. Kazuhiro Kobayashi, President & CEO of TMMT, has said: “We have achieved the targets in 2005. Our mission is to contribute Turkish society through exportation. We are gratified that we had a fruitful year on the way to realize our mission. I would like to thank all parties involved for their contribution to our success. In year 2005, TMMT’s total exportation has increased more than 2 Billion USD, and reached to 2.3 Billion USD. Export revenue of Toyota Turkey is doubled in 2005. In year 2005, TMMT has exported more than 144 thousand vehicles, destined mainly to Europe. Germany, Italy and France have been the major export destinations of TMMT.

As one of the production bases of Toyota in Europe, Adapazari plant is producing and exporting Corolla Sedan, Station Wagon and Verso models. Toyota Turkey, with around 3,500 employees and over 700M Euro of investment, had started exportation in year 2002. It is aiming to move export revenue and being the export leader of Turkey in 2006, too.

Toyota in Europe

Toyota achieved its ninth consecutive record year of sales in Europe in 2005. With 964,208 vehicles delivered. Toyota saw its sales rise by 5% over the previous year, in a flat total market. Toyota’s market share was up 0.2 percentage points to 5.1% - the highest market share ever for the company in Europe. Toyota also produced 638,000 cars, 588,000 engines and almost 337,000 transmissions at its plants in the U.K., France, Turkey,  Poland and the Czech Republic. For 2006, Toyota has set the target of exceeding 1 million units in Europe and operating at full capacity to produce 806,000 cars, 860,000 engines and 575,000 transmissions.

 

 

Toyota Celebrates 500,000th Vehicle Made in Turkey

Toyota today celebrated the production of the 500,000th vehicle manufactured at its plant in Adapazari, Turkey. The Corolla Verso rolled off Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey’s (TMMT) line in front of a gathering of representatives from government, local communities, suppliers and Toyota executives from Japan and Europe. TMMT, which was Turkey’s leading exporter in 2004, manufactures the Toyota Corolla Verso, Sedan and Wagon models with a maximum annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles. TMMT employs some 3,500 people and represents an investment of €730 million.

Mr. Shinichi Sasaki, President and Chief Executive Officer of Toyota Motor Europe said: Toyota is headed for continued growth in Europe and with the support of our expanding production base we aim to provide our customers with both superior quality products and services. I would like to warmly congratulate TMMT on their 500,000-unit production milestone!”

Mr. Kazuhiro Kobayashi, President and Chief Executive Officer of TMMT added: “Today’s achievement has been made possible thanks to the joint efforts of  our employees, suppliers and business partners. I would like to thank all those involved for their hard work and dedication.”

TMMT expects to export approximately 140,000 vehicles to Europe in 2005, with an export value of some US$2.2 billion – making TMMT Turkey’s leading exporter for 2005.

For 2005, Toyota plans to produce 635,000 cars, 541,000 engines and 259,000 transmissions in Europe and sell 980,000 vehicles – which would mark the company’s eighth consecutive year of record sales. Toyota currently has eight manufacturing plants in six countries across Europe.

Adapazari - According to the announcement done by TİM (Turkish Exporters Association) Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey Inc. (TMMT) has been the biggest exporter of Turkey, according to the results of year 2004. During 2004, TMMT's total exportation has been realized as 1.86 Billion USD.

Mr. Kazuhiro Kobayashi, President & CEO of TMMT, has said: "I am very pleased and honored to achieve our vision for 2004, which was 'To be the number one exporter of Turkey'. It is a great achievement for us to be the leader, just at the third year after the beginning of exportation to Europe. We are happy to contribute to Turkey via exportation of our superior quality vehicles."

In year 2004, TMMT's total exportation has increased more than 1 Billion USD, and reached to 1,856,166,225 USD. In year 2004, TMMT has exported more than 119 thousand vehicles, destined mainly to Europe. Germany, Italy and France have been the major export destinations of TMMT.

As one of the production bases of Toyota in Europe, Adapazari plant is producing and exporting Corolla Sedan, Station Wagon and Verso models. Toyota Turkey, with more than 3,000 employees and over 700M Euro of investment, had started exportation in year 2002.

Management Change at TMMT

Adapazari - Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey Inc. (TMMT) has announced the managerial change at the company. While the current President and CEO, Mr. Koji Kobayashi has been appointed to a new position in TMC - Japan, Mr. Kazuhiro Kobayashi has been appointed as the new President & CEO of the company. The changehas been effective as of January 3rd.

In his new position, Mr. Koji Kobayashi will assume responsibility at Global Production Center, which was opened in July 2003 with the mission of rapidly instructing large numbers of mid-level plant managers from overseas and Japan in best practices.

Mr.Kobayashi has been holding his position in TMMT since year 2000. During his management, TMMT's number of employees has increased from 670 to 3,100, while investments have increased by 400 Million Euro and reached to 730 Million Euro. During his assignment, TMMT has been selected by Toyota as one of the production bases for Europe market, and started exportation to Europe in year 2002. In order to supply the increasing demand, TMMT started double shift operation in year 2003 for the first time. In the beginning of
this year, annual production capacity of the plant has been increased from 100,000 to 150,000 units. Mr.Kobayashi, who is a true friend of Turkey, has always promoted Turkey as an investment base, due to its location, excellent workforce, and huge potential.

Mr. Kazuhiro Kobayashi, who replaces Mr. Koji Kobayashi, was born in 1957. He joined Toyota Motor Sales in 1980. In year 1990, he served as Assistant Manager in Overseas Planning Division, Japan. During 1992 - 1996, he was the coordinator at Finance & Product Planning Division, at NUMMI, USA. In the beginning of 1997, he was appointed as the manager at Overseas Planning Division, and became the General Manager in 2000. In the beginning of 2003, he was appointed as the General Manager of Overseas Strategic Project Planning Department. He was serving as the General Manager of Purchasing, Global Project Promotion Department since the beginning of 2004.

Mr. Kazuhiro Kobayashi, the new President & CEO of TMMT, has started to hold his position, as of January 3 rd, 2005.

Toyota Turkey is celebrating 10th aniversary in production

Adapazari - Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey Inc. (TMMT), one of Toyota's European production bases, today celebrated its 10th anniversary of vehicle production in Adapazari, Turkey. Over the last 10 years, TMMT has produced 335,000 vehicles, and expects to manufacture some 140,000 Corolla Sedan, Wagon and Verso models in 2004. TMMT employs almost 3,100 people - representing a total investment of €700 million - and plans to export €1.6 billion worth of vehicles this year.

In order to mark the fact that it is ten years to the day since the first Corolla model drove off TMMT's assembly line in 1994, representatives from government, local communities, suppliers, Toyota executives from Japan and Europe, and organizations associated with the company, took part in the celebrations at TMMT.

In October, Toyota manufactured its 2.5 millionth vehicle in Europe, marking a significant milestone in the company's European history and operations. Toyota is now producing all of its core models - Yaris, Corolla, Corolla Verso and Avensis - in Europe. This year, Toyota plans to produce 565,000 cars, 466,000 engines and 198,000 transmissions at its plants in the U.K., France, Turkey and Poland.

"Today is a milestone for our company, our members and all parties who have contributed to our operations over the last ten years. We will continue to produce quality vehicles and contribute to society for decades to come", said Koji Kobayashi, President & CEO of TMMT.

To mark its decade of production in Turkey, and to contribute to the local society, TMMT will donate three Corollas to three technical schools for training purposes, and one Corolla to the Adapazari Municipality. The technical schools - Adapazari Fatih Technical High School, Adapazari Vocational School, and Kocaeli Technical High school - which educate potential technical employees for TMMT and other industrial companies in the region, will utilize their Toyota vehicles to help train their students.

"Record production and exports in Toyota Turkey's history"

After the first 6 months of year 2004, Toyota Turkey announced its production and export results

Toyota Turkey producing and exporting Corolla Sedan, SW and Verso models, had an all-time record of 58,645 units production in the period from January to June 2004, an increase of 73% over the first half of 2003. Also the export within this period became 53,517 units, an increase of 74% over the first half of last year. This year, start of Corolla Verso production and export was a milestone in Toyota Turkey's history. With the addition of New Corolla Verso to production line up, Toyota Turkey became one of the biggest exporters of Turkey. For the first 6 months, EU countries were the main export countries.

Toyota Turkey CEO and president Mr. Koji Kobayashi released a message evaluating the first 6 months :

"Our first half results are important both for Europe operation and Turkish economy : Our production reached to record levels and in this way our contribution to Europe operation increased. And also we became one of the biggest exporters of Turkey with over 630 million € export. The quality of Corolla Sedan, SW and Verso models are admired by both within Toyota and customers. This year, we are aiming to be number one automobile exporter of Turkey." said Mr. Kobayashi

The New Corolla Verso was produced of 30,180 units. Meanwhile, exportation of the new Corolla Verso became 28,500 units in the 6 months period. And exportation of Corolla Sedan in the first half reached to 13,151 units. SW exports for the first half became 11,886 units,.

For the first six months, Germany was Toyota Turkey's largest export country in Europe, followed by the Poland, Italy, Russia and France. On the other hand, top New Corolla Verso countries were Germany, Italy, France, UK and Netherlands.

Toyota Turkey is the only production base for New Corolla Verso in the world. The New Corolla Verso has achieved a maximum 5 Stars award in Euro NCAP.

If we look at the Toyota's European operation, Toyota sold an all-time record of 502,016 units in the period from January to June 2004, an increase of 15% over the first half of 2003. This marks the first time Toyota's six-month sales have exceeded the 500,000-unit mark in Europe. Toyota's European market share for the first half reached 5.1%, up from 4.7 % last year. Toyota continued to grow in the five biggest European markets and sales of its core models - all built in Europe - increased further.

TMMT increases its capacity to 150,000 units witha new model

Adapazarı - TOYOTA MOTOR MANUFACTURING TURKEY inc. (TMMT) one of the European production bases of Toyota, increases its capacity to 150,000 from 100,000 with a new model on the production line.

MT is growing

Along with capacity increase and new model, TMMT has announced its year 2003 results too. TMMT produced 70,000 units in year 2003, exporting 63,000 of them mainly to Europe, an increase of 42 percent compared with the year 2002. Export revenue increased 33 percent to 600 million Euros while turnover increased 40 percent to 760 million Euros. Growth trend will continue in year 2004, as production will reach 127,000 units and majority of them will be exported to 36 different countries.

Success in production and exportation of New Generation Corolla, high quality level and remarkable success in double shift led the capacity increase and new model granted by Toyota Motor Corporation Japan. Starting from August 2004, full capacity usage will be utilized in TMMT and 2004 calender year production will be 130,000 units. In year 2003,180 million Euros investment is made and total investment reached 700 million Euros.

A milestone in Turkish Automotive history : New Corolla Verso

The reason for the capacity increase is to produce the new model of Corolla Verso along with existing models that are Corolla Sedan and Station Wagon. New Corolla Verso will only be produced in Turkey and scheduled for production of 73,000 units mainly for European market.

New Corolla Verso, the third model of TMMT, uses design, modularity and quality to attract a broader range of C- segment for all over the Europe market and it is a milestone in Turkish Automotive industry since it will be the first model in its segment that will be produced in Turkey. The investment made for the production of New Corolla Verso is around 140 million Euros.

Designed in ED 2, Toyota's European Design Center in Nice, New Corolla Verso can accommodate up to 7 people. In addition, all the 5 rear seats can be flat folded creating a completely flat cargo space, without the need of removing any seat from the interior. There will be three cylinder volumes for the new model, 1.6 and 1.8 for gasoline engine and 2.0 for diesel engine.

Sales of New Corolla Verso will start in May in Europe and 62,000 units of sales are expected in year 2004. At the moment, Corolla Hatchback is being produced in Toyota UK factory and with the introduction of new Corolla Verso, all Corolla lineup will be produced in Europe. Further to successful introduction of Toyota models in Europe, New Corolla Verso shows the commitment of Toyota to European market and its intention to grow in this market.

The all new Toyota Corolla Verso will have its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, on the 2 nd of March 2004.

TOYOTA TURKEY has started 2nd shift operation

Starting from today, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey has started 2nd shift operation to reach the 73,000 units level production target for the year 2003.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey declared the start of Double shift operation which is another step taken towards its growth targets for the year 2003.

Start of double shift is the first time in the history of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey since the start of production in year 1994. After a long preparation period and recruitment of new members, Toyota Turkey has started double shift operation on 17th of March 2003 in Adapazarı Plant.

As being one of the Toyota's European production bases, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey is in a constant growth. As it is declared in January 2003, total production target for the year 2003 is set as 73,000 units which 87% bigger than the last year's result. Majority of this production volume will be exported and expected export amount is 600 million Euro. In year 2003, Toyota Turkey will reach 2,500 employees with its continuous growth. In line with bigger targets, in year 2003 there will be additional investment which is 180 million Euros.

Currently, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey is producing two models which are Corolla Sedan and Corolla Station Wagon. Toyota Turkey has also started the preparations of an exciting new model which will be produced only in Turkey. New model is totally unique and will be exported from Turkey to Europe. This model is scheduled to be produced in year 2004.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey becomes the sponsor of soccer tournament between elementary schools in Sakarya

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey is supporting Sakarya province not only through manufacturing and creating jobs but with social activities as well.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey has declared that it will be the sponsor of soccer tournament between elementary schools in Sakarya which will be held between 25th of February and 19th of March 2003.

The soccer tournament between elementary schools in Sakarya has been organized by Sakarya National Educational Directory every year. This year Toyota sponsors the tournament by giving support for main expenditures and supplying sports material. Therefore, the tournament is named as TOYOTA - Sakarya Governorship Cup Elementary School's Soccer Tournament.

25 schools with 300 students are joining the tournament. Tournament will be held in Adasporium Facilities between 25th of February and 19th of March. Matches will be played in the week days, 6 matches a day. Final match will be played on the 19th of March.
