Respect For Environment
Based on the Guiding Principles at Toyota Motor Corporation, which codify the business spirit that Toyota has maintained since its establishment, the Toyota Earth Charter embodies the "Comprehensive Approach to Global Environmental Issues." The policy is reflected in the Guiding Principles, which pledge to "Dedicate ourselves to providing clean and safe products and to enhancing the quality of life everywhere through our activities". Thus, Toyota positions the environment as a top-priority management issue that is at the core of all business activities.
The production of vehicles, engines and transmissions in factories inevitably has an impact on the environment. To ensure that car manufacturing can make more with less, Toyota developed its world-famous Toyota Production System (TPS) several decades ago. Over the years, TPS has also evolved to include new environmental targets. It is now applied in Toyota's production facilities all over the world, including TMMT.

Environmental Management
Toyota promotes environmental initiatives that take into consideration the entire lifecycle of a vehicle by implementing thorough environmental management at all stages - production, logistics, use, disposal and recycling.
Toyota will introduce from 2005 a comprehensive environmental impact assessment system, Eco-VAS (Eco-Vehicle Assessment System), that allows -over the entire vehicle development process- systematic lifecycle assessment of the vehicle's environmental impact.
