Toyota celebrates 20 years of manufacturing at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye, announces future production increase, investment

Sakarya - Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye today celebrated its 20th production anniversary with it’s 3,500 members. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye, ranking in Turkiye’s export champion list, currently producing Corolla and Verso models. The company plans to produce 135 thousand units in 2014 and export 85% of them, and targets this year to reach 2 billion Dollar export amount at the end of the year 2014.
 
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye is one of the TOYOTA's production base of Europe, which was established in 1990 as Toyota’s second production base in Europe and started manufacturing operations in 1994 in Sakarya. Cumulative production is over 1.5 million units.
 
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye, which has been operating production and export activities at Sakarya plant since 1994, now prepares for the future production increase and new investment.
 
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, Didier Leroy, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, said to the employees there:  “We fully believe in the potential for long-term economic growth in Turkiye, and trust the capability of the Toyota members here.  This plant is competitive, and we have decided to increase production at TMMT in the future and are now studying how exactly this will take shape.”
 
President & CEO of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye Mr.Orhan Özer, who also made a speech at the press meeting, firstly expressed his appreciation to all attendants for their coming together in this memorial day, and said, “Our company was seen worthy of increase production and investments thanks to its outstanding performance. Great contribution of all employees has share of today’s achievement. We also strongly trust our suppliers, who have always been in a cooperation with us and who I believe would continue to contribute to us. I sincerely thank Turkish government and all our partners for their supports.”
 
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye’s cumulative investment amount reached 1.9 billion Dollar. Export was began in 2002 and the cumulative export amount reached more than 20 billion Dollar. Amongst the 1.5 million vehicles that have come off the assembly line since the start of production in September 1994, are:

- Corolla (7th generation, 8th, 9th generation, including wagon, and now 11th generation)
- Auris (2007-2012)
- Verso (previous generation from 2004 and current generation since 2009)
