Sakura (cherry blossom tree) planting activity

Based on Japan Year 2010 in Turkiye, Sakura trees planting activity has been organised which is a national symbol of Japan. Within 3 years, every year 1000 Sakura trees will be planted at several cities of Turkiye. Main purpose of the activity is to strengthen Turk-Japan relationship and also through tree planting activity to contribute to the development of environment consciousness. Activity has been supported by AICAT (Association for International Cooperation and Training) which is one of the Japan Non-governmental organisation.
 
Within the context of the project, in Toyota Turkiye plant area 50 sakura trees have been planted by company management and also students from Neviye Primary School and Açmalar Primary School as the third group of eco tour activity which was started in 2009 .
 
During the ceremony, Mr.Tamer Ünlü, President and CEO of Toyota Turkiye said that “ Today, we are here due to the Sakura trees planting ceremony which is a part of Japan Year 2010 in Turkey activities. Executive Committee of the event has been determined to this 3 years activity as planting the Sakura trees at several cities of Turkey. Some events and festives are organised for Sakura, which is known as national symbol of Japan and it is accepted as forerunner of spring with its flowers in April. In this scope, together with today’s 50 Sakura trees, totally 1000 units will be planted in İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Bursa, Antalya, İzmit, Akhisar, Eskişehir, Kırşehir in 2010. This is one of the Japan Year in Turkey event but we combined it with our kids eco tour activity because we believe that each planted tree will help to decrease environmental problems. I wish to develop everlasting Japan Turk friendship through all those activities as part of Japan Year 2010 in Turkey and thank your very much for your participation”.
