12th Generation of Toyota Corolla, the world's most popular automobile, will be manufactured by TMMT in Sakarya. New Corolla will be rolling off the production lines as from January 2019 and Toyota Motor Manufacturing will be positioned as Turkiye's hybrid base with both C-HR & Corolla models.

Being one of the leading automotive companies in Turkiye, Toyota Motor Manufacturing will continue to manufacture Corolla, Toyota's legendary C-segment sedan model, with its 12th generation. After the body types of Hatchback exhibited in Geneva Motor Show 2018 and Touring Sports exhibited in Paris Motor Show, Sedan as the third body type will be available with a 1.8 litre self charging hybrid for the first time in Europe. Having reached a sales volume of 46 million in more than 150 countries since its first launch on the market in 1966, Corolla will be using the new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) GA-C platform, which started to be implemented in Toyota's manufacturing facilities in Turkiye. It is the first plant outside Japan to produce TNGA based vehicles.

New Corolla Sedan will be available with two different engine options. While the self-charging 1.8-liter hybrid engine option generates 122 HP power, it allows zero-emission full-electric drive for up to 50% of the daily use. 1.6-liter petrol engine provides both fuel efficiency and performance all at once. The engine may be combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional CVT automatic and generates 132 HP power.

Fitted as standard with the latest Toyota Safety Sense active safety package, the production of New Corolla Sedan will start in January next year. Continuing to manufacture C-HR, which is the first hybrid and SUV model in Turkiye, Toyota Motor Manufacturing will become the hybrid base of Turkiye by manufacturing its second hybrid model with the New Corolla.

We are providing added value to Turkish economy

Hiroshi Kato, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye said” following the production that will start in January 2019, New Corolla, is expected to appear on the roads as of the first quarter of 2019”. He is stating that “we are preparing for the manufacturing of the 12th generation Corolla with the same excitement we had for the first car produced here” which was the 7th generation Corolla in 1994.  Highlighting that this decision proved the trust Toyota had in Turkiye, Kato said: “We will successfully transfer the experience obtained in hybrid technology with C-HR to the New Corolla. As Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye, we have the highest manufacturing volume among Toyota's companies in Europe. We are contributing to our economy greatly by exporting 90% of the production to 100 different countries across the world, using almost our entire annual production capacity of 280.000. New Corolla will play a significant role in achieving our targets in the forthcoming period.”
