Adapazari - Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkiye Inc. (TMMT), one of Toyota's European production bases, today celebrated its 10th anniversary of vehicle production in Adapazari, Turkiye. Over the last 10 years, TMMT has produced 335,000 vehicles, and expects to manufacture some 140,000 Corolla Sedan, Wagon and Verso models in 2004. TMMT employs almost 3,100 people - representing a total investment of €700 million - and plans to export €1.6 billion worth of vehicles this year.

In order to mark the fact that it is ten years to the day since the first Corolla model drove off TMMT's assembly line in 1994, representatives from government, local communities, suppliers, Toyota executives from Japan and Europe, and organizations associated with the company, took part in the celebrations at TMMT.

In October, Toyota manufactured its 2.5 millionth vehicle in Europe, marking a significant milestone in the company's European history and operations. Toyota is now producing all of its core models - Yaris, Corolla, Corolla Verso and Avensis - in Europe. This year, Toyota plans to produce 565,000 cars, 466,000 engines and 198,000 transmissions at its plants in the U.K., France, Turkiye and Poland.

"Today is a milestone for our company, our members and all parties who have contributed to our operations over the last ten years. We will continue to produce quality vehicles and contribute to society for decades to come", said Koji Kobayashi, President & CEO of TMMT.

To mark its decade of production in Turkiye, and to contribute to the local society, TMMT will donate three Corollas to three technical schools for training purposes, and one Corolla to the Adapazari Municipality. The technical schools - Adapazari Fatih Technical High School, Adapazari Vocational School, and Kocaeli Technical High school - which educate potential technical employees for TMMT and other industrial companies in the region, will utilize their Toyota vehicles to help train their students.
